THE HIDDEN FLYING mini MOBILE CRANES

I made The Hidden Flying mini Mobile Cranes for my sister on our up coming visit at hometown next week. Paper folding has been a part of the kindergarden and elementary school curriculum as it has a lot of benefits in growing children apart from the tradition and custom values.

For The Hidden Flying mini Mobile Cranes, I have made

- An origami star box by Robin Glynn based on the tutorial below

- Six mini cranes (paper lucky charms) using 5cmX5cm colour papers

Material used:
-Foil papers (thick one for the box)
-Colour paper (80sgm)
- 3 wodden patterned buttons
- 3 faux pearls
- Strings
- Wodden Sticks
* All the materials are from the local craft strores

DOILY PAPER

I love Doily papers. The are classic and cheap. I made the card below using all the possible raw material from my craft box. I splattered the white card using Revees watercolour.

Materials:
Card stocks, Doily paper, maroon feathers, epoxy brad (from Japanese store), Reeves watercolour, brush no. 3, craft knife, scissors, glue and double sided tape. All the materials are from local stationary shops.

Initially, I decided to glue the orange polka dotted rose and the leaf on the splattered white card. However, it was too plain and I went back to my craft box looked for a base for the rose. I found Doily papers.
I used cut & paste technique on Doily paper as below.

1. Cut out the pattern using craft knife. Keep both pattern and the middle portion of the paper

2. Cut across the pattern using scissors

3. Re-introduce back the pattern to the middle portion by wrapping around .

4. Flip over to check and continue pasting the same pattern of another
Doily paper to obtain complete wrap around Doily.
Beautiful Doily paper is ready to use.
I stopped at the step (shown in the pictue) as I only need half of it.

Option: can also wrap around other shapes using the same technique.

Happy crafting

BAJU KEBAYA

BAJU KEBAYA

The first thing came across my mine after purchasing the fabric from a friend of mine is baju kebaya!

It took me a couple of months to complete it as I made a lot of errors in drawing of the blouse and I have also wasted quite amount of fabric to obtain the similar design at both side of the pleats

The traditional baju kebaya Nyoya is actually made of sheer cotton, silk or organza material with elaborate and intricate designs at the borders . While the long skirt is known as sarong (batik) and usually paired with the embroidered blouse.

SWEET SUMMERTIME (TSTR)

I am a new comer to the world of blogging. One of the reasons why I refuse to start a blog is the LANGUAGE; my English sometimes suck. Somehow my friends and colleagues successfully persuaded me to start BANANA LEAF n TUMBLER to share my art and craft work.

The world of craft making has gone far beyond my imagination and I realize that I am still making craft using old techniques with my basic tools. The new technique has brought me to The Shabby Tea Room. The moment I saw the Challenge; Inspiration photo for week# 125,  the set of puncher I received from my father 14 years ago come across my mind.

I did a very simple card thinking of someone special based on the above theme. It can be actually fold in either way.

Supplies:

Carla Craft Puncher: Big Sakura and small flowers
Ink: Pretty Color Pigment Stamp Pad
Other: From local craft shop, Malaysia
